Collecting Moments
I love escaping into a moment with all my senses......Autumn always triggers such moments and connects other similar ones from the past. Wistful times as a child in maryland walking to school and examining every leaf along the way---fast forward to Boston and stopping on the way to class on the Hill to take in the shower of gold, red and orange leaves; the cruching under my feet, the wind rustling and the gold leaves shimmering barely hanging on. Walking the dog near my parents' house--the familiarity of 24 years and all defenses are gone; open to just the warmth of being bundled, yet hands, cheeks and nose are cold--its quiet, the neighbors haven't gotten up yet, Paris sniffs everything on the way and for once I am too content not to slow down and do the human version of the same.......my favorite is the soft yellow flared leaves that leisurely drift and swirl down like bits of sunshine confetti.
